How this list was picked

This is a judgement call, not a sort. The ten below are the Marvel characters collectors ask about most, ordered roughly by how much weight the character carries, and each entry covers what their first drop actually was. It is deliberately not a ranking by edition count, because supply tells you how easy something is to find, not whether it is worth owning.

One scoping note that matters. These come from the Marvel firsts we document, which is a curated set of the ones we consider most significant rather than a complete record of the platform. VeVe's Marvel catalog is considerably larger and still growing, so read this as a shortlist, not a survey.

The numbers, dates and art below are pulled from our data at build time, so if a count gets corrected the page corrects with it.

Spider-Man

Five sculpts, from the crouched Amazing Spider-Man at 32,000 down to the Ultimate Animated at 1,000, which opens on the Ultra Rare spin and advances into a full web-release. If you own one Marvel first, the argument for this being it is that the position cannot be occupied twice.

Iron Man

Tony did not get a solo Marvel series. He arrived inside Disney Golden Moments, a cross-IP launch timed to Disney+ Day, as an all-gold Mark L hovering with the repulsors charged. 12,333 editions in a blind box, and the market fee runs 8.5% (6% to the licensor, 2.5% to VeVe) rather than the usual Marvel rate, because it sits under the Disney umbrella.

Wolverine

Logan showed up late. Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk and Black Panther all had firsts before he did, and the wait ran to April 2024. What arrived was worth it: an animated piece with four toggle states (mask on, mask off, claws out, fists clenched) at 3,181 editions, which is a fraction of what the 2021 headliners got.

Captain America

Not the stoic version. Cap's first is a Marvel Mightys chibi with a big head and a toy-shelf finish, dropped one week after Spider-Man opened the Marvel run. 28,888 editions in a single sculpt, no rarity ladder of its own, which makes it one of the easiest genuine Marvel firsts to find listed.

Thor

Mjolnir appears in all five sculpts, from God of Thunder at 14,600 to the Ultimate Animated at 2,200. That is the tightest top-to-bottom spread of any five-tier Marvel box we document, so the chase here is closer to the base tier than it looks on the odds sheet. Thor waited nine months longer than Spider-Man did.

Hulk

4,444 editions, one sculpt, fully animated, and the animation does the only thing it should: Hulk smashes. For an A-list character that is a tight run, closer to the 2023 scarcity pattern than to the 2021 blind boxes, and it is tagged First Appearance on VeVe rather than being a re-release of an earlier piece.

Deadpool

A Very Deadpool Christmas: ugly sweaters, candy cane swords, and a Merc with a Mouth self-aware enough to headline a holiday special. Every edition count in the set is a repeating six, 18,666 at Deck The Halls down to 1,666 at the Ultimate Animated, which is exactly the sort of thing Wade would have insisted on.

Black Panther

T'Challa arrived just over a year after Chadwick Boseman's passing, which gave the release a weight most drops do not carry. It is also the flattest ladder here: Wakanda Forever at 21,800, Panther Pounce close behind at 18,800, and a Secret Rare at 2,800, so the top tier of a very large release stays within reach.

Venom

You could not buy this one. VeVe put the first Venom behind a crafting event, so collectors had to combine specific in-app items to build it, and only 1,111 exist. That is the tightest supply of any character on this list, and the acquisition method is why: nobody pulled it out of a blind box by accident.

Daredevil

The most interesting number on this list is not the mint. Matt Murdock's first came out as a single Rare sculpt at 5,800 editions in October 2022, classic red suit with the billy clubs, and 3,339 of those have since been burned. That leaves 2,461 in circulation, so the run that actually exists is smaller than Wolverine's and less than half what was minted. Nothing was withheld and the first available edition was #41.

Same ten, stripped to the numbers. "Release shape" separates a blind box that ladders one character across several sculpts from a single sculpt that stands on its own.

One caveat on that last column: it is what was minted, not what still exists. Daredevil is the clearest case, 5,800 minted against 2,461 in circulation after 3,339 burns, so on the shelf it sits closer to Wolverine than the table suggests. Burned editions are gone permanently, and VeVe reports mint, circulation, burned and withheld as separate figures on every collectible page.

What changed between 2021 and now

Read the list in date order and the pattern is obvious. The 2021 and 2022 headliners came as blind boxes running tens of thousands of editions across five tiers, built to put a piece in as many hands as possible. Hulk in 2023 landed at 4,444 in a single animated sculpt. Wolverine in 2024 at 3,181. Venom the same year at 1,111, and behind a crafting event rather than a store page.

Daredevil in October 2022 sits on the hinge: 5,800 editions in a single Rare sculpt, an order of magnitude under the blind boxes of the year before but well above what 2024 produced.

That shift matters for how you read a count. A 4,444-edition Hulk is not a smaller character than a 38,800-edition Thor, it is a later one, drawn from a period when VeVe stopped minting at that scale. Comparing supply across those eras tells you about the platform, not about the character.

Which one should you own?

If you want the anchor of the whole run: Spider-Man. Marvel's first character on-chain. The Common at 32,000 is the accessible way in and the Ultimate Animated at 1,000 is the chase, and both carry the same first.

If you want the tightest supply here: Venom at 1,111, which had to be crafted rather than bought, or Wolverine at 3,181 with the four toggle states.

If you want the one whose real supply is hidden: Daredevil. 5,800 minted, 3,339 burned, 2,461 in circulation. The mint number tells you almost nothing about what is left.

If you want the one that is easiest to find: Captain America or Black Panther. Deep supply means there are always listings, which is the whole advantage of a large release.

If you want the oddity: Iron Man, whose first sits inside a Disney series rather than a Marvel one, or Deadpool, whose entire edition ladder is built out of repeating sixes.
