The Story
Venom is a living alien symbiote that needs a host to survive, most famously bonded with disgraced journalist Eddie Brock. The black substance first appeared as Spider-Man's alien costume in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 and the Secret Wars crossover in 1984. Once Peter Parker rejected it, the symbiote found Brock, and the two merged into Venom in The Amazing Spider-Man #300 in 1988, created by writer David Michelinie and artist Todd McFarlane. That issue is one of the most sought-after modern Spider-Man keys.
What made Venom stand out was the mix: Brock's grudge against Peter Parker plus the symbiote's memory of being Spider-Man, which is why it copies the wall-crawling and web powers but twists them into something monstrous. He runs on a tug-of-war between chaotic aggression and a self-styled code as a "lethal protector," which pushed him from Spider-Man villain to antihero with his own long-running books. Over the years he has fought Spidey, teamed with heroes, and gone head to head with other symbiotes like Carnage, his own violent offspring.
The sculpt catches Venom mid-lunge, muscles bulging and tendrils snaking out in every direction. Jagged teeth stretch into a monstrous grin, the long serpentine tongue is out, and the black tar-like skin carries heavy texture detail. The white spider emblem across the chest cuts against all of it. It is built to read well in an AR showcase.
