The First Lightsaber NFTs and the 5,454-Edition Chase

One box, five blades

VeVe had been running Star Wars for six months when this set arrived, and it took a different angle from the character drops around it. No figures, no faces. Just the weapon, rendered in 3D with the activation sound attached, which is the detail that sells the whole thing when you pull one up in AR.

The five blades were picked to span the saga rather than one era. Skywalker covers the original trilogy, Yoda and Mace Windu the prequels, Kylo Ren the sequels, and Ahsoka the animated side that eventually crossed into live action. Everything sat under the Star Wars license and a brand VeVe created for it, Lightsaber Collection, at Season 4 with an 8.50% market fee.

It dropped two days before the first Darth Vader, which is worth remembering when you look at the run: this set beat Vader to the platform by 48 hours, so the first red blade on VeVe belongs to Kylo Ren, not the Sith Lord who made red blades famous.

The Skywalker Lightsaber

Anakin's blade, handed to Luke by Obi-Wan and later recovered by Rey. It is the first lightsaber ever shown on screen, in 1977's A New Hope, which makes it the historically loaded piece of the five even though it sits in the Common tier. Blue plasma off a ridged silver hilt, no ornament anywhere.

Yoda

The short green shoto Yoda drew on Count Dooku in 2002's Attack of the Clones, the moment the audience found out he fought at all. The hilt is scaled to him, which makes it read as a different object entirely next to the Skywalker saber. Largest population in the series by 30 editions.

Kylo Ren

The crossguard, built around a cracked kyber crystal that cannot hold its energy, so the blade spits and the two quillons vent sideways. It debuted in 2015's The Force Awakens and it is the only unstable blade in the set. Visually the most distinct of the five, and the first red saber VeVe put on the platform.

Mace Windu

The purple blade, and the first time the Skywalker Saga used a color outside green, blue and red. It arrived in the same 2002 film as Yoda's. The hilt has more machined detail than anything else in the box, and at 9,999 it is the only clean round number in the run.

Ahsoka Tano

Secret Rare5,454

Two curved hilts, one full length and one shoto, both white. They debuted animated in the 2015 Star Wars Rebels season finale and went live action in 2020 in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian. This is the only entry in the set that gives you two objects instead of one, and the only one whose color exists nowhere else in the saga.

The numbers behind the box

The pull odds here are not weighted separately from supply. Each blade's chance of coming out of a box is its share of the 67,038, which means the odds column and the edition column are the same fact told twice.

Two thirds of the box was always going to be a Common. Put another way, Ahsoka and Mace Windu combined come to 15,453 editions, still fewer than the Yoda saber on its own.

Every one of the five started at edition #41, with nothing recorded as withheld, so serials in the low forties are the earliest anyone holds across the whole series.

Where the burns went

456 editions have been burned out of the series, and they are not spread around. 453 of them came out of the Skywalker saber alone. The other three burns are one each from Yoda, Kylo Ren and Mace Windu, and Ahsoka has had none at all.

The practical effect is small but it flips the top of the table. Yoda was minted 30 editions behind the Skywalker saber and is now 482 ahead of it in live supply, which makes the green shoto the deepest blade in the series today rather than the blue one.

The tell the app gives you

Daily MCP points are the number most people scroll past on a collectible page, and in this series they are the clearest read on how VeVe itself tiered the box. Both Commons earn 1 point a day. Kylo Ren earns 1.25. Mace Windu earns 1.5. Ahsoka earns 6.

That is a jump of four times over the Ultra Rare directly below her, in a series where her edition count is only a little over half his. The rarity ladder reads as five even steps. The points schedule does not, and it puts the entire weight of the box on one blade.

Which blade should you own?

If you want the chase: Ahsoka Tano. 5,454 editions, two hilts in one collectible, zero burned, and the only white blades in the saga. Anyone building around scarcity in this series is building around this one.

If you want the historical marker: the Skywalker saber. It is the blade Obi-Wan hands Luke in 1977, the first lightsaber the audience ever saw, and it sits in the Common tier at 19,770, which is the rare case where the deepest supply carries the heaviest story.

If you want the piece nobody mistakes for another: Kylo Ren. The crossguard reads instantly at any size, which matters more than it sounds when your shelf is a grid of thumbnails.

If you want the middle of the ladder without the chase premium: Mace Windu at 9,999. The purple blade is the only one of its color and it holds the second smallest population in the box.

If you want the most accessible way in: either Common. Between them the two of them account for 59% of the series, so they are the ones that surface most often when collectors list.

All five turned up in the same $60 box in 2022, but that was the drop-day list price and the two Commons and the Secret Rare have never traded on the same terms since.
