The Story

Jameson appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 alongside Spider-Man himself, then became a fixture of the Bugle from Amazing Spider-Man #1 forward. He has no powers, no costume, and no plan beyond a printing press, and he has still caused Peter Parker more sustained damage than most of the people in this box. Putting him in a villains series is a joke the line commits to, and it is the reason he works as the Secret Rare instead of another guy in a mask.

The Mightys sculpt gives him the flattop, the mustache, and a tap animation where he shakes his fist and throws his newspaper. It is the only piece in the series whose animation is a tantrum rather than an attack.

Market Context

Season 12, Marvel license, Marvel Mightys brand, 8.50% market fee, blind box with a waitlist. The interesting structure here is that scarcity and first status line up on the same piece. Mysterio and Doctor Octopus are the two mid tier pulls and neither is a first, since both had first appearance collectibles on VeVe in 2022. Jameson is the only Secret Rare, the only 199 edition piece, and a First Appearance at the same time, which is the combination that historically holds the most attention on the secondary market. Expect him to be the piece people buy as a single rather than chase at 1 in 23 per box.

Collector's Note

If you buy one piece out of this series, this is the one. A 199 edition mint on a character who has been in the Spider-Man books since 1962, plus a first appearance tag, is the sort of setup that gets scarcer over time as editions get locked into long term collections.
