The Story

Toomes debuted in Amazing Spider-Man #2 in 1963, which makes him one of the oldest names in the rogues gallery and the first villain Spider-Man faced after the Chameleon. The pitch has never changed: an aging electronics engineer who got squeezed out of his own company, built a flight harness, and started robbing the city out of spite. He is the counterargument to the idea that Spider-Man villains need superpowers to work.

First Vulture NFT and digital collectible, Marvel Mightys Spider-Man Sinister Villains

The Marvel Mightys treatment gives him the stylized chunky proportions the line is known for, plus idle and tap animations that send him into a dive. VeVe has run Spider-Man villains before, but Toomes had never had a collectible of his own until this series.

Series total is 4,594 editions, 4,194 in circulation with 400 withheld and nothing burned. Vulture's own line is 1,099 editions, 1,009 circulating and 90 withheld, with the first available edition at #41.

Market Context

Season 12, Marvel license, Marvel Mightys brand, 8.50% market fee. Worth knowing before you buy: only four of the six pieces are firsts. Vulture, Electro, Sandman, and J. Jonah Jameson all read "First Appearance", while Mysterio and Doctor Octopus read N/A because both already had their VeVe firsts back in 2022. At 1,099 editions Vulture is one of the three most common pulls in the box, which usually means the easiest one to pick up as a single on the VeVe secondary market rather than chasing it through boxes.

Collector's Note

This is a cheap entry into a genuine Marvel first. $15 retail and roughly one in four odds put Vulture within reach of anyone opening even a couple of boxes, and singles are usually the smarter route once the drop settles. If you collect firsts by character rather than by rarity, Toomes is a name worth having on the shelf next to Green Goblin and the rest of the rogues. Starting out? Grab $10 off your first VeVe purchase, which covers most of a box.
