The Story
Ororo Munroe first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 in 1975, one of the first Black female superheroes in mainstream comics. Born to a Kenyan tribal princess and an American photojournalist, she commands the weather, lightning, wind, and rain answer to her thoughts.
Over the decades she has led the X-Men and ruled as Queen of Wakanda alongside Black Panther, which made her a fitting choice to open the franchise on VeVe.
The five tiers each give her a different pose. The Common "Mistress of the Elements" (16,500 editions) sets her in a commanding stance, white-and-gold suit and the sharp mohawk from one of her boldest comic looks. The Uncommon "Windrider" (12,500) catches her mid-flight, arms out, riding the wind.
The Rare "Queen of Wakanda" (6,500) leans into the regal side, arms extended to summon the elements, a nod to her reign alongside the first Black Panther NFT. The Ultra Rare "Animated" (3,650) surrounds her with a crackling storm and dancing lightning. The Secret Rare "Ultimate Animated" (1,500) sends her ascending through the full fury of the skies, the scarcest piece in the set.
The Drop
Storm's November 2021 release was a landmark for VeVe. The X-Men were the last major Marvel franchise to reach the platform, arriving after the first Spider-Man NFT, first Iron Man NFT, and Captain America had all dropped earlier that year. Handing the very first X-Men slot to Storm says a lot about how VeVe rated her.
The five-tier blind box at $50 produced 40,650 total editions, on the larger side for a VeVe Marvel drop, though the top tiers (Ultra Rare and Secret Rare at 5,150 combined) still carry meaningful scarcity.

Market Context
40,650 total editions is significant supply, and the Common and Uncommon tiers (29,000 combined) keep the floor accessible. The higher tiers are where the action concentrates, especially the animated variants at 5,150 combined editions.
Storm's "first X-Men NFT" status gives this set historical weight beyond the character alone, and as the X-Men gain prominence in the MCU, that genesis status could grow more valuable. The Collect blockchain migration (completed January 2026) and StackR marketplace give all five tiers better trading conditions than they had at launch.
Collector's Note
Storm is a genuine landmark in X-Men history and a trailblazer for representation in comics, and being the first X-Men NFT adds significance beyond her individual IP. She opened the door for the mutants who followed on VeVe, from the first Professor X NFT and first Magneto NFT in 2023 to the first Wolverine NFT in 2024.
For scarcity, the animated tiers are the strongest bet, while the Common tier works as an affordable way to hold the "first X-Men" position. Browse all variants on the VeVe secondary market. New to VeVe? $10 off your first purchase is available.
