The Story

Juggernaut debuted in X-Men #12, cover-dated July 1965, from writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Cain Marko is the stepbrother of Charles Xavier, and the two grew up under the same roof before their paths split hard. People assume Juggernaut is a mutant because he fights the X-Men, but his power is mystical: he found the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak in a buried temple, touched it, and became the human avatar of that demon-god. The result is a man who cannot be stopped once he is moving, protected by a force field that shrugs off almost anything.

That gimmick has kept him relevant for sixty years. He has gone toe to toe with the Hulk, flattened full X-Men lineups, broken out of every containment cell Marvel has drawn, and served stretches as an antihero and even a member of the X-Men. The helmet is the whole story: as long as it stays on, telepaths like Xavier cannot reach the one part of him that is still vulnerable.

First Juggernaut NFT digital collectible in red armor and domed helmet

The sculpt leans into the mass. Cain Marko stands in his crimson armor and domed helmet, fists clenched, built like the immovable object he is. VeVe tags this piece First Appearance, its marker that a collectible is the character's genuine debut on the platform, so this figure is the starting point for any Juggernaut collection here.

Edition Breakdown

TierEditionsDetail
Rare1,965One sculpt at $50 retail, no chase variants

1,965 editions is a genuinely low mint for a name this big, and the live float is smaller still. VeVe lists roughly 798 in circulation against 1,167 burned, so well over half the print run has been permanently destroyed. That is a strong scarcity setup for a single-tier collectible.

Market Context

1,965 editions sits far below most of VeVe's Marvel supply range. Compare it to Storm at 40,650 or a big blind box like Black Panther at 58,000, and Juggernaut is a fraction of the size. The market fee on secondary sales runs 8.5%, standard for VeVe. With more than half the run burned, the number of copies actually available to trade is small, which is exactly what collectors want behind a recognizable character.

The first status is permanent: no matter how many Juggernaut variants VeVe releases later, this January 2024 drop will always be the original. All VeVe collectibles now live on the Collect blockchain after the January 2026 migration, with secondary trading through VeVe's in-app market and the StackR marketplace (live since April 2025).

Collector's Note

Juggernaut is a cornerstone X-Men villain, and a first-appearance set built around mutant lore looks thin without him. He slots in next to the other X-corner firsts on VeVe, from the first Wolverine NFT to the first Storm NFT.

The single Rare tier means there is no common version dragging down perceived value, and the low mint plus heavy burn does the rest. Copies trade on the VeVe secondary market, sometimes near or below the original $50 retail. New to VeVe? Grab $10 off your first purchase.
