The Story
Matt Murdock is blinded as a boy pushing a stranger out of the path of a truck carrying radioactive material. The same accident that takes his sight heightens his remaining senses to superhuman levels and gives him a radar sense that maps the world around him. His father, "Battlin'" Jack Murdock, is a boxer who makes Matt promise to study rather than fight, but when Jack is murdered by the crime boss the Fixer for refusing to throw a bout, Matt builds a horned costume and takes on the Fixer as Daredevil. The issue also introduces Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, the law partner and secretary who anchor Matt's civilian life for decades of stories to come.
Everett's art on this single issue set the visual tone for a character who would go on to define the "street level" side of the Marvel Universe, patrolling Hell's Kitchen rather than the skies. Daredevil's mix of legal drama and vigilante violence made him one of Marvel's more distinctive early leads, and his print origin is the print origin; the first Daredevil NFT is the character in figure form.
